Agrian Hits One Billion Treated Acres Milestone
July 17, 2018 (CLOVIS, California) – Agrian announces the software company’s core compliance engine has surpassed the billion-mark, when it comes to the number of treated acres run through the systems’ compliance check since inception. The milestone exemplifies the tremendous growth Agrian has undergone since the company was founded in 2004 as a cloud-based record keeping system.
Today, Agrian is far more than compliance. The company provides compliance, precision and agronomy all within a single platform to over 200,000 growers, crop advisors, retailers, and food processor users who rely on the software to power their ag businesses. “We have been fortunate to experience tremendous growth over the past decade,” said Nishan Majarian, co-founder and CEO. “Acknowledging this threshold is a nod to not only the success of our foundational compliance tool, but to the success of Agrian as a whole.”
‘Treated acres’ is the measurement used to quantify activity within Agrian’s compliance and record keeping system. In literal terms, the one billion figure is the total count of acres, per product, submitted into the system for a compliance check. “In practice, PCAs are using Agrian to set-up and record all their recommended applications of material,” said Majarian. “They trust and rely on our system to ensure their recommendation is compliant before submitting to the county.”
Agrian’s compliance engine is built on the back of more than 11,000 indexed labels – the largest manufacturer-indemnified label database in the world. Compliance checks against the database have grown exponentially since 2008 when 3,000 treated acres were documented in the year; 2018 is on pace to breach 150 million treated acres.
“We’re at an interesting time for compliance. It’s not just California and specialty crops that are requiring robust documentation and compliance checks anymore,” explained Majarian. “Whether it’s the movement towards greater food traceability trending across the country, or the recent dicamba drift issues encountered in Midwest row crops, we’re entering an age where extensive digital recordkeeping and compliance checks are the new normal. Agrian will continue to grow with our customers, where ever they are, helping to navigate compliance. While one billion is big today, it will inevitably seem small in the years to come.”
